If you listed to my latest episode of the podcast called "The Horse and the Bluebell", you will hear the detailed story of this hike that my daughter and I tried three times. We got pretty far up, but after three tries on three different days, we never made it to the top. This was my daughter's goal, and she was PISSED that I had us turn around upon realising on the way up that we were out of water. In my defense, I wanted to share how far away we were from sea level. I had also spent the previous few days sick with a chest cold that left me choking on air when I inhaled. In other words, I needed H2O.
This trip to Tenerife in the Canary Islands was exactly what I needed to restore my well being by way of vitamin D. We spent ten days with two families sharing meals, swimming, hiking, and drinking. It was exactly what I hoped for. They even had two saunas in their house.
Two promises I made to myself for future Christmas and New Years holidays include:
1. I will always spend the holidays in the sun.
2. I will always swim on New Year's Day.
